New distribution hub opens
In early November Plymasters opened their substantial Wanganui core distribution hub. Covering 1,600 square metres, it has the capacity to house 6,500 cubic metres of ply, and more than 90% of the company’s product will be despatched, around New Zealand, from there.
Fraser Currie, Sales and Procurement Manager, says accessibility and safety, along with increased capacity and efficiency were drivers for the new facility.
An 8,000 square metre yard gives trucks better access and helps reduce risk to passing traffic, at the same time, it provides improved separation between forklift drivers and in-coming, and out-going vehicles. As Fraser says, it’s also created a better working environment for Plymasters’ operations management team, John and Ronan Keating.
The opening came hard on the heels of Plymasters’ range extension into pre-finished Vorlac, and Furnier oak on birch core both of which, Fraser says, have had very positive feedback from joiners and designers.
